I can honestly hold my hands up and confess that I would never sign up to home school my children. Just like hospitals, I believe that schools were built for a reason. As the saying goes, ‘those who can teach‘ – I can’t so I don’t.
With COVID-19 taking over our lives this year, I like other parents across the UK (and the world) found myself in a role that I never signed up for and felt very unqualified for. Whilst I am incredibly thankful to each of my children’s schools and teachers for providing them with homeschooling topics, projects and resources. It was still a very challenging time.
Although the children have returned to school for the new school year following life in lockdown. It doesn’t mean that everything has returned to ‘normal’. With the children’s homework assignments now completed online as well as a number of Roo’s after school activities taking place via Zoom meetings. This means that the children require more access to technology as opposed to workbooks and printouts that they usually would have brought home.
Fortunately, we have the resources for them to access their Google Classroom, Class Charts and many websites they need for home learning. Something that we were missing was a headset with a microphone for them to utilise when doing Zoom meetings or accessing videos etc. Enabling them to complete their tasks without disturbing their siblings (or at least I can hope).

Our thoughts…
The children have been utilising the Edifier K815 headset with a mixture of Zoom meetings and watching both pre-recorded lessons and YouTube videos. The adjustable headband means that they can easily switch over the headset to whoever needs to use it next. With the microphone at an easy angle so that they don’t feel as though they need to shout in order to be heard (although my children have no problem with not speaking loud enough).
