This month’s #LittleLoves… Life as we once knew it has changed substantially over the course of the month. What was once just something we heard about on the news from the other side of the world is now very much a reality. Making us step back, close our doors and hope that our loved ones manage to get through without harm.
We are adjusting to a new normal and finding a way to exist with the borders of our home and garden. Not something that comes easily to someone with high functioning anxiety but I’m attempting to take each day as it comes and not look too far into the future.
This months #LittleLoves…
Each month I share my #littleloves, a chance to reflect on the things that I have read, watched, heard and made. As well as highlighting what I’ve worn and any other highlights in my life. It’s not about the big things, it’s about all those small little loves that make up everyday life.
Read
It’s been a busy month for reading, with me ensuring that I set time aside to enjoy a chapter or two of a book. As well as opting to read when I have 10 minutes rather than scrolling through social media. Purchasing a Kindle Paperwhite last year has certainly paid dividends.
- Will you?
- The two lives of Lydia Bird
- It’s not you, it’s me
- It would be wrong to steal my sister’s boyfriend
- The last piece of my heart
- In Search of a Love Story
- The Prenup
- The Postcard
However, since the lockdown measures have been introduced I have shied away from reading. The overwhelmingness of everything has left me feeling like hiding away rather than escaping into other peoples stories.
Watched
A catch-up date in the city with Lynsey from Me, Him, the Dog and a Baby allowed us to catch the new Military Wives film in the cinema. I completely underestimated how emotional the film would be. Thank goodness I had tissues in my bag, I sobbed so much.
Heard
In a bid to centre myself I have sort comfort in some of my favourite artists, albums and playlists. With Dido featuring heavily on my recently played lists.
Made
Homeschooling has never been something that I have wanted to do. Not because I don’t love my children or want to look after them. However, as someone who struggles to assist them with weekly homework, the prospect of doing it five days a week is sheer madness. But here we are, homeschooling. Albeit a small scale affair and certainly a task I was underprepared for.
Wore
Before the social distancing began I was fortunate enough to enjoy some time walking along the sand dunes in Great Yarmouth. My new Hotter Shoes Rutland boots allowed me to take my times, enjoy the surroundings and deal with the uneven terrain in comfort. I can’t wait to put these back on to enjoy walks in the woodland with the children.
Lastly
The restriction, the social distancing, the possible self-isolation scenarios that we find ourselves in. Has allowed me to focus on the important things in life. The people who choose to be part of our lives and those for one reason or another find it better not to be part of our lives.
Hold close your loved ones and stay safe
