Willows Activity Farm | February Frolics

AD | Gifted Tickets

There’s plenty of fleecy fun to be had at the cutest event of the Willow Activity Farm calendar, February Frolics with plenty of activities that the whole family can enjoy.

We made our first visit to Willows Activity Farm for their Santa Spectacular event last year. A testament to how much we enjoyed the trip we have just returned from the Willows Activity Farm February Frolics half-term lambing event. Although Storm Dennis delayed our trip by a day we made sure we had our wellies and outdoor wear on as we attended the farm yesterday.

Meet Peter Rabbit

Willows Activity Farm is home to Peter Rabbit and his friends and it would be rude not to pop (or hop) along to one of the meets and greets across the day. A chance to say hello to one of the Peter Rabbit characters and have a photo – for which there is no official photographer and they encourage families to take their own snapshots. Which is wonderful as many attractions charge for character photos.

Lamb bottle-feeding demonstration

During the February Frolics event, the event marquee is home to pregnant ewes as well as new-mummy ewes and their newborn lambs. With lost of information about how long ewes are pregnancy to how they recognise their lambs amongst the other new additions.

One of the livestock team, Sophie, was on hand to talk about the new additions to Willows Activity Farm and why they might require artificial feeding. From being rejected from their mum, being part of multiple births or possibly if their mum sadly died. With two lambs being bottle-fed throughout the talk, allowing the children to see how it is completed.

Meet the shepherd

Held within the other side of the events marquee is a mix of pregnant ewes who are due to give birth in the coming days and week. As well as smaller pens housing ewes and their newborn lambs. Allowing them to bond closely without other ewes or lambs.

Tuck, the shepherd, talks about the current lambing season and how different breeds of sheep give birth at different times of the year. Explaining the coloured markings that have been sprayed onto the ewes fleeces. Indicating when they are due to give birth and how many lambs they are expecting.

Little Bo Peep and her lost sheep show

Take a seat inside the Peter Rabbit Theatre to discover a range of shows held across the day. The latest show is Little Bo Peep and her lost sheep. Which as you can imagine from the classic nursery rhyme Little Bo Peep has lost one of her sheep, Frank. Frank likes to play hide and see, so you’re invited to help Little Bo Peep find Frank whilst she attempts to hide encouraging Frank to come out of his hiding place.

Fleecy arts and crafts

Indulge in some spring-themed arts and crafts within the Busy Bee Marquee. Creating sheep masks, paper plate crafts and colouring sheets. A great way to sit down and let the creative juices flow.

Bo Peep’s lost sheep fun hunt

Time to test out how much you have learnt about the lambing season. Scratching off the answers on the trail card to discover if you are correct. Don’t forget to hand in your completed trail card at the end of the day in the gift shop for a little treat.

All the fun of Willows Activity Farm

Alongside these fun February Frolics activities there is the rest of Willows Activity Farm to explore and enjoy. From the farmyard, pat-a-pet, Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground and so much more.

How to book your Willows Activity Farm tickets
