Bullet journaling is a trending organisation system that’s used by students, parents, and anyone who wants to plan more effectively. There are many ways to bullet journal, but the classic technique is to simply create a shorthand key and make to-do lists.

Here are some other ways you can utilise your new bullet journal!

Create Habit Trackers

Dotted or gridded bullet journals are perfect for creating trackers! You can track anything you can think of. Some common trackers include social media usage, healthy habits, and mood trackers. If your journal isn’t set up to make trackers easily, simply grab a ruler and create your own grids!

Create Weekly Organizer Pages

If you’re a student, you’ll want to have weekly spreads for assignments, goals, and anything else that changes every few days. Vertical layouts work well if you only want to make to-do lists and keep track of deadlines. Some layouts have room for a tracker or two (like this one, which includes a weekly hydration tracker). What you put on your spread is up to you!

Budget for an Event

Going on a trip or planning an event? Use a bullet journal to budget and keep track of your spending! Create a pie chart to allocate funds for different elements – what percentage of your budget will be spent on an event venue or on airline tickets? Keep track of your savings to remind yourself of how close you are to funding your trip (or how much more you need to save).

You can also create budgeting spreads for everyday finances, like bills and monthly budgeting

Positive Reminders

Create spreads that you can look at when you need to lift your spirits! Try making a list of things you love about yourself, a daily gratitude page, or a favourite prayer. Reading these pages daily will help the reminders become embedded into your memory!

Goal Trackers

If you’re working on reaching a goal, setting up a goal tracker is a great way to show your progress! Weight loss trackers are pretty common, as are debt payment trackers. Get in shape or pay off your student loans by holding yourself accountable!

Since bullet journals are completely customisable, the possibilities are endless for how you can use them. Find a set of pens and brush markers (for calligraphy), along with planner stickers. Whether you want your journal to be simple or elaborate, you can make a bullet journal work for you!
