Life as a parent is somewhat unexpected. Whilst some days feel as though you are living in Groundhog Day, there are others that are thrown into the mix to keep you on your toes. Those days when you are juggling 101 things or they are just not going the way you want them to go.
Parenting is a juggling act and sometimes we need a helping hand to get through the multitude of activities that must be completed that day. From playing taxi service to sitting on the sidelines during activities. I have an ace up my sleeve for these moments and it comes in the form of the Sky Kids App.
Peace of mind for me, a world of entertainment for them
I’ve previously talked about how to get the Sky Kids App, but I wanted to share more about how we incorporate it into our everyday lives. With each of the children having a profile set up, so that they can access the channels and programmes that they love. They have access to a world of entertainment and it gives me peace of mind. Peace of mind that they ate entertained as they sit and watch yet another swimming lesson. That they can pop their headphones on and shut the world away for half an hour. And that I don’t have to worry that they are accessing inappropriate content.
A source of comfort
A few weeks ago Piglet underwent an operation to remove her tonsils and adenoids. Something that we knew was going to happen and needed to happen, especially given the number of times she has been plagued with tonsilitis throughout the past year.
Whilst I had been told that Piglet would sleep on and off all day following the operation. Piglet decided that sleep was for the weak and stayed awake for the entire day. Not wishing for cuddles, colouring or chatter. Instead, requesting her iPad and Sky Kids app to keep her entertained through the hours of observation. Although I could have felt snubbed that my cuddles weren’t required, however, it was reassuring that she just wanted to lay there and relax watching her favourite programmes.
But I don’t want to watch that
With three children plus ourselves living under one roof, sometimes finding something we all what to watch can be tricky. Whilst we enjoy family film nights together, there are times throughout the day or week when one of us can not bear to watch another episode of Vampirina, Apple & Onion or The Thundermans. These the moments when the children retreat to a corner of the sofa, slip their headphones and watch whatever it is they fancied watching.
Christmas is coming
With Christmas just around the corner, the children will be catching up on all the amazing Christmas episodes from the characters and series that they love. Plus it will allow me the opportunity to complete some of the festive tasks around the house without them attempting to get involved – yes I am that parent who doesn’t let her children decorate the tree in the living room (they have their own trees in their bedrooms that they can decorate).
