When looking for his new best friend, a boy goes through an alphabetical menagerie of animals. From an antelope to bobolink birds, to wolves and zebras – and, of course, a cat and dog too – he brings them all home. But each creature just makes his sister go AH-CHOO! Will he ever be able to have the perfect pet?

Follow one little boy who just wants a pet, however, his sister sneezes every time he brings a new one home. He tries a variety of different animals working his way through the alphabet to find that perfect pet, however, each time it ends in a big Ah-Choo! from his sister. He begins to wonder whether he’ll ever find a pet that won’t make his sister sneeze.
Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…
As someone who sneezes quite a lot, Tigger thought that the girl in the story was me and that the boy was my brother. As we read through the different animals the boy tried to bring home as a pet had Tigger giggling as he thought it was funny that he would want to bring an antelope home or even a skunk. It was lovely to see the book work through the alphabet with different animals rather than just the usual dog, cat, rabbit pets that children would immediately think of.
We really enjoyed pretending to sneeze along with the girl and our Ah-Choo’s got louder and louder as we made our way through the book.
The illustrations throughout the book really bring the story to life with building blocks going flying when the sister sneezes.
