Our Christmas Eve Box

December 21, 2015

Some Christmas traditions just need to be observed, like eating chocolate for breakfast on Christmas morning, visiting Santa in his grotto to tell him what you’d like for Christmas (just in case he has misplaced your letter) and listening to Christmas songs non-stop in the car. This year is our first year of putting together a Christmas Eve box however many of the items included we did already but I’m hoping that by having it all in one basket will make it that but more special and exciting.

Something to wear

As someone who love pyjamas I am always on the look out for a new excuse to either wear them or buy a new pair (preferably both). So it seems only fitting that we should have new pyjamas for Christmas, after all we want to look our best for when Santa checks to see if we are sleeping.

Whilst the children have some cute supermarket pyjamas I have treated myself to some Joules nightwear, a pair of gorgeous astrid jersey pyjamas and a super cosy ruby rita dressing gown – after all I’ve had to contend maternity pyjamas for the past 9 months so deserve something a little more special and Joules offer some amazing clothing items.

Something to watch

My all time favourite children’s Christmas movie is Santa Claus the Movie. I can remember my auntie bringing it over for my cousin and I to watch when I was about 3 years old. I have watched it every Christmas since and it has long been our Christmas Eve movie of choice.

Something to read

Whilst we will be enjoying the ‘Twas the night before Christmas story before bed as we have done for the past seven or eight years, this year I have added a new book into our schedule – The Jolly Christmas Postman. I picked up this book back in October and I’ve had it hidden away ready to be added to our Christmas Eve box so that we can all enjoy the story together come Christmas Eve.

Something to eat

Whilst we are snuggling on the sofa to watch our Christmas movie I like to treat the children to some snacks. This year I thought it would be fun to try out the limited edition Gingerbread popcorn alongside some classic favourites of fruit salad chews and wham bars.

Something for Santa to leave our presents in

As bedtime approaches I like to get the children involved in the preparations for Santa. This year alongside the usual leaving of milk, mince pies and carrots the children will be leaving out their personalised Santa sacks (along with ones for Mummy and Daddy too – we didn’t want to miss out on the action), this way Santa know where to leave everyone’s presents when he comes to deliver them on Christmas Eve night.
