Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Thomas’ Shipwreck Rails Set {Review}

October 8, 2015

Thomas and SodorWith the release of a new Thomas & Friends movie on DVD earlier this week it means that we need to re-cap on the previous adventures, re-acquaint ourselves with old friends before we enjoy the latest adventure and introduce ourselves to new characters.

With the release of the new Thomas & Friends movie it also means that they are new trains and toy train sets available to buy and enjoy. Whether you love the Take n Play range or have moved over to the motorized TrackMaster range there is something for everyone.

One of the latest playsets is the Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Thomas’ Shipwreck Rails Set which Tigger was lucky enough have been sent over recently to see what he made of the latest track.

Thomas and TRACKMASTER

Get ready for some exciting adventures inspired by the new movie Thomas & Friends Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure with the new Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Thomas’ Shipwreck Rails Set. Young fans will love watching as daredevil Thomas climbs the steep incline towards the ship’s mast, then plunges towards the deck and turns upside down in a 360° spiral as he speeds along the spiral track.

TRACKMASTER and Tigger

The incredible upside-down spiralling action and an auto-reset function that enables continuous play, and it was surprising to see that this feature worked smoothly with the supplied Thomas on the playset. It is however not suitable for bigger trains such as Gordon or Diesel as the weight load isn’t quite right.

Boo Roo and Tigger Too’s thoughts…

This is the biggest track length that Tigger has had at 1.8m long so immediately he was impressed with the size of the playset. The track itself took around 15 minutes to put together for the first time and was really straightforward thanks to the clear instructions and letter codes placed underneath each section of track.

Tigger loved setting up Thomas on the track and then following him around the rails, up the steep hill, around the shaky corner before plunging down the 360 degree spiral track. With the ability to add-on additional tracks I can see this becoming the main feature within his Trackmaster network.

Take a look at the track in action…

My only niggle with the playset is that it isn’t able to be stored back in its original box as the shipwreck masts click into the base. Only a small thing really but as it is a large set it would have been nice to have been able to store away easily when not in use.

Price and Availability

The Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Thomas’ Shipwreck Rails Set is priced at RRP £42.99 and available from Smyth’s Toys, Amazon and all other good toy retailers.

Disclosure: We received the Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Thomas’ Shipwreck Rails Set FOC for the purpose of review.
