Every now and again I see others share their bucket lists of places that they would like to visit. I’m sure everyone has a little list (or a big one depending on how keen you are on travelling) of places that they would like visit – I know I certainly do although I have to admit it does tend to grow each time I see friends and family return from some foreign land.
One of the places I’d love to visit has to be Mexico. I’ve known a few people who have visited and have loved their time out there, some have loved it that much that they have returned time and time again. For me there are several reasons why I want to visit Mexico…
Beautiful beaches
Now I understand that I live at the seaside and whilst Great Yarmouth might win a blue flag or two each season it doesn’t really compare to the beautiful beaches of Mexico. With beautiful golden beaches, clear blue waters and the occasional beach bar for refreshment what more could a girl want. Plus with weather that very rarely drops below 20C it is certainly a lot warmer and welcoming than laying looking out over the North Sea.
Contoy Island
One of the recommended places to visit from friends of mine is Contoy Island, a small hidden island that restricts the number of visitors each day so that it is never over-crowded. I’ve listened to stories of swimming around the coral reef, amongst the thousands of tropical fish and enjoying the most wonderful beach barbecue that I absolutely must try it for myself.
Chichén Itzá
Who could say no to visiting one of the seven wonders of the world? A visit to the Chichén Itzá, the jewel of the Yucatán peninsula’s antiquities. Taking in the 365 steps of the pyramid and simply standing in awe of a magnificent structure.
Explore the jungle
Past the beautiful beaches and tourist areas of Mexico there is an untamed jungle waiting to be explored. Now I’m not saying that I want to be the next Bear Grylls but taking a quad bike ride through some of the terrain, taking a dip in a waterfall and being able to see some of the local wildlife does appeal – after which I can retreat back to the comfort of my hotel room rather than a tent in the jungle.
What do you think of my Mexican wish list? Have you been to Mexico? if so please let me know if there is anything else that should be on my ‘Mexico must do’ list
Disclosure: This post is brought to you in collaboration with First Choice, however I really would like to visit Mexico
