Are you travelling for the summer? If so, you will likely need a place to stay during your travels. While most people automatically opt for a hotel, renting an Airbnb can be a much better option. A lot of the time you will find that an Airbnb is cheaper and cosier than a hotel room.
If you have never booked an Airbnb, you may be a bit unsure of how things work and how to find the best places to stay. Here a few tips for renting an Airbnb that are sure to help.
Things to consider when booking an Airbnb
Verify your account
Before you even attempt to rent an AirBNB, be sure you have taken the time to verify your account. This means uploading your drivers license or state ID and verifying your phone number. Doing so can make a host feel safer so they are comfortable allowing you to rent their property for a short time.
Try to rent from a Superhost
A Superhost on AirBNB is someone who has consistent amazing reviews. In other words, their properties are what you are looking for. Keep in mind that some super hosts allow you to book immediately while others may be a bit pickier and want to chat with you via messages first.
Know your budget before you look
AirBNB allows you to filter your search results by cost which means you should know how much you are looking to spend per night before you search. If you don’t, you may have a harder time finding a place to stay.
Be specific with what you need
As I said, AirBNB allows you to add budget filters to your search. They also allow you to filter by accommodation type, number of beds and quite a few other options. Be very specific with what you need in your search filters and you’ll have a much easier time finding something that will work.
Book early
Airbnb’s – especially popular ones rented by Superhosts – tend to fill up quickly. As soon as you know the dates for your trip, begin searching on AirBNB for a room or home. You’ll have far better luck if you search as early as possible.
Be respectful of the property
When you’re visiting an AirBNB, remember that often you are staying in someone else’s home. Be respectful of their rules, of their property and of their home.
Leave things better than you found them
As with anything that isn’t yours, aim to leave the property better than it was when you found it. Clean up any trash, sweep and mop and so on. After all, wouldn’t you want someone else to do the same if it was your home?
Write a great review
Reviews make the world go round on AirBNB so once you have completed your stay, be sure to leave your host a great review if your stay was good. If not, try to resolve things with your host before you leave your review. Airbnb won’t publish your review until your host gives one to you which means if you want reviews on your account – and you do – you’ll need to review them as well.
